Career Road Map If you're interested in pursuing a career in instructional design, you may be wondering what steps you need to take. Here are some tips to help you get and stay on the right track. Get your bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. While it's highly desirable to major in instructional design, there are a range of education-related degrees that you may pursue. You may also see a range of degree names for instructional design, including, but not limited to: • Instructional design and technology • Educational technology • Learning and instruction design • Instructional systems technology There are career opportunities at the bachelor's level, so keep your eye out for entry-level positions. This can help you get practical, real-world experience. If you're seeking an administrative or leadership role, you may need to continue your education to the graduate level. Look for a flexible program that fits your career goals and your life. The Tech of ID Technology is always changing, so the popular software programs used in instructional design today may not necessarily be what's used tomorrow.
