FACULTYSPOTLIGHT School FACULTYSPOTLIGHT School of Dr. Postanowicz began teaching at NCU in 2011 as an adjunct professor and transitioned to full-time Faculty in 2012. She was one of the first two people hired at NCU as a full-time Faculty member. She earned her PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Florida State University (GO NOLES!) and has a MS in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston. She also has an MA in Psychology and a BA in Women's Studies, both from Clark University in Worcester, MA. Her research interests include addiction, major mental health and trauma. While working at NCU, Dr. Postanowicz has also developed an interest in engagement and retention, and serves as the co-chair of the SSBS Retention Committee. Dr. Postanowicz spear- headed a project which saw the inclusion of family as a consideration in a new student's engage- ment and retention. Dr. Postanowicz served as a Faculty Senator from 2015-2016 and is currently serving as part of the Faculty Laureate Program. Laureates are helping to bridge the work of Faculty with the various functional areas of the University, specifically working with the Center for Teaching and Learning to identify training needs for Faculty. Dr. Postanowicz teaches mainly in the MAMFT program. She teaches the following courses: MFT-5101, MFT-5103, MFT-5104, MFT-5105, MFT-6106, MFT-6111, MFT-6112, MFT-8104, and MFT-8115. She also recently took on teaching PSY-8115. Dr. P (as she is known to her students) lives outside of Atlanta with her husband, Chris; daughter, Kayla; and son, Alex. Kayla is a NCU baby - the week Dr. P was hired as an adjunct is the week she found out she was pregnant with Kayla. Alex was born in 2016. Outside of work, Dr. P likes to attend the Broadway in Atlanta series with her husband, as season ticket holders. She also loves cooking (the more the merrier, so if ever in Atlanta, just let her know!) and she and her family love games and puzzles. Patty Postanowicz, PhD Full-Time Faculty, Department of Marriage and Family Sciences
