Doctor of Philosophy in Data Science The analysis, interpretation and application of data has become the cornerstone of many industries, from retail, healthcare and manufac- turing to all levels of government. Organizations use data to provide better services and ensure their success, but it requires ongoing work to gather, secure and utilize it properly. Data scientists are the professionals that help organizations unleash the power of data to make informed decisions and drive growth. Our Doctor of Philosophy in Data Science program provides rigorous instruction in the entire field of data science as a discipline instead of a view of a few hot topics. Students will study the entire data science life cycle including research design, data acquisition and manipulation, quantitative methods, statistical interpretation, and data presentation and visualization. The curriculum emphasizies applied knowledge and techniques using real-world data sets and business problems. Specific areas of study include data mining, big data integration, predictive analytics, and visualization.
