6 As the Chair of the Department of Psychology, I would like to extend a warm welcome. I am glad you are considering joining the NCU academic community. NCU was founded in 1996 with two academic departments, including Psychology. We have grown over the years, and continue our mission to prepare the next generation of experts in their fields. We offer a number of degree programs in the Department of Psychology and I encourage you to learn more about them here. • We currently offer a PhD program with eight specializations to choose from. Our doctoral programs prepare students to become independent scholars who will greatly contribute to expanding the knowledge base in the field of psychology. • You can earn your Master of Arts in Psychology with two specialization options – gender diversity or general psychology. • We offer Master of Science degree programs in five areas described in this brochure. These non-clinical MS programs include a capstone project or internship and help prepare students to apply psychological principles in a variety of settings including the justice system, law enforcement, education, nonprofit and organizations in many other settings depending on your field of expertise. • We offer a Bachelor of Arts degree as a degree-completion program. • In addition, we offer Post-Master's and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate programs. As a student, you will have access to our all-doctoral Faculty, who maintain open door policies and have expertise in their fields. We look forward to welcoming you to Northcentral University as you embark on your educational journey! We are committed to preparing you for your career in psychology and related professions. WELCOME FROM THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR Department of Psychology BETTINA SHAPIRA, PhD Chair Department of Psychology 8 NCU's psychology programs are not licensure programs and do not prepare an individual to become a licensed psychology or counseling professional.
