5. Great news! Yulia is working with the ID folks to finalize the new version of MFT-5101 that includes a lot of authored content as well as the book that was authored by our MFT faculty. We should finally see some of the fruits of our labors soon!! 6. Several of our faculty have welcomed new little ones into their families since the last newsletter and we celebrate with them: a. Aurélia Bickler and her family welcomed Five Elijah Bickler and he is adorable b. Emily Schmittel and her family welcomed Claire Marie Seagrave and she is so beautiful 7. Mark White is working on the eligibility criteria for our reaccreditation effort for the PhDMFT. That will be followed by the self-study and site visit next year. It is a very detailed and demanding process and many of us will have opportunities to help him in this effort. We are still the only PhDMFT online program accredited by COAMFTE . . . that is such a remarkable accomplishment. Thanks, Mark, for your leadership of this program and this history-making effort at reaccreditation! 8. We are in the midst of a hiring process for full-time teaching faculty. Thanks to each of you who has expressed interest in being considered for this position(s). We are in the enviable, though difficult position of having so many highly qualified candidates from which to choose. Thanks to the faculty who serve on the selection committee for making these very challenging decisions. 9. As announced in the last newsletter, we have begun the process of creating three new specializations/certificates in sex therapy, trauma therapy, and addictions treatment. We will keep you posted as these move forward through the approval and creation process. It is anticipated that all three will be launched with the October catalog update. I very often think of what it means to be a part of the NCU MFT programs. The other day in a spontaneous expression to an Argosy transfer student who had asked me about being a part of the program, I sincerely blurted out, "I pinch myself almost every day and wonder if this is real." For me, it feels like a "dream job." I work with colleagues that I admire, from whom I have and do and will learn so much about my chosen profession and about how to be a better human being. I get to work with students who, though sometimes frustrating in their behavior, by and large have a genuine desire to make a difference in the world and I get to support them in preparing to do so as MFTs. I feel tremendous support from faculty and staff colleagues and from senior leadership in the efforts we make to serve our students (this has not always been a part of my experience in higher education) and that feels good. Finally, I get to be part of an organization that seems to genuinely care about increasing access to higher education for all who seek to earn an advanced degree. Our experience with Argosy is another, and very significant, example of that commitment to and passion for this mission. I am grateful!!!
