FACULTYSPOTLIGHT School of Dr. Andjelka (Angie) Stones was born in Belgrade, old Yugoslavia. However, she spent most of her life in the UK, USA, and Spain. Both of her parents were in academics and she was encouraged to pursue the same path. She considers herself an eternal student, having obtained a degree in statistics, specializing in medical statistics, and later obtained another degree in life sciences with a psychological sciences pathway. Currently, she is pursuing a postgraduate certificate in economic justice from Harvard University. She notes that this is to keep her brain active. Her doctorate and most of her early research was in the psychophysiology of panic attacks. Later her interests branched out to include infertility, gender studies, and ethical consideration in mental health professions. Angie lectured for many years at the University of Westminster, London, as well as working in clinical settings in London, New Jersey, and Valencia, Spain. She has over a decade of experience working with NCU in various capacities, from chairing dissertations to course development and everything in between. She jokes that she is a part of the "furniture" at NCU because it feels like her second home. She is passionate about NCU's efforts to enable students to achieve their very best regardless of circumstances. Apart from her passions for travel and learning, Angie likes to write. She had a theatre company in London for many years. She also organized several conferences in the UK, USA, and Spain in her areas of interest. And of course, her biggest passion and love are her three children. The youngest was born in 2000 and just started university. They are the pride (and the biggest achievement) of her life since she was a single mother for most of their lives.
