11 Bettina Shapira, Ph.D. Hello Everyone, I am very proud to give my first Department update in the inaugural NCUPA newsletter. I want to start by recognizing the hard work and dedication of Dr. Pitchford and Dr. Wright. Both were not only instrumental, but essential in creating this newsletter. Please join me in thanking Dr. Pitchford and Dr. Wright. As you might be aware, NCU is welcoming former Argosy students. Please join me in saying: Welcome! FACULTY RELATED NEWS: We are currently hiring a full-time professor, who will mainly teach in our Industrial Organizational (I/O) psychology programs and serve as a dissertation chair. In addition, we are hiring three adjunct professors. Please stay tuned. CURRICULUM RELATED NEWS: This month, five new Bachelor Fast-forward programs will go live. The Bachelor Fast-forward programs are mapped to our five Master of Science (M.S.) programs. This means that if a student is in a Bachelor Fast-forward program, he or she will take three master-level courses that later can be transferred into the M.S. programs. In addition, we're revising our Ph.D. specialization in Industrial and Organizational Psychology to comply with the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology's (SIOP) educational guidelines and we will add an internship course. We are planning to offer the revised Ph.D. specialization in I/O Psychology to students this summer. In addition, we are planning on developing a new Ph.D. specialization in Counseling Psychology. This specialization will be very attractive for professionals clinically licensed on a master's level, for example, as a licensed professional counselor (LPC)s and a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT). I hope you will have a wonderful spring with much academic success and achievements. My best, Dr. Bettina Shapira Department Chair, Department of Psychology School of Social and Behavioral Sciences
