7 Bettina Shapira, Ph.D. Greetings! I hope you are enjoying the summer! It is time for Department updates. We recently hired a new Full-time professor, Dr. Antoinette Kohlman. I want to welcome Dr. Kohlman to the Department of Psychology. She holds a PhD from Alliant International University in Organizational Psychology and was previously was an adjunct faculty member in the School of Business. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Antoinette Kohlman! During the past months, we have revised our PhD specialization in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology to comply with the Society of Industrial/ Organizational psychology's [SIOP] educational guidelines and we added an internship course. The revised specialization went live in July. In addition, we are currently revising the Post Master Certificate in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. We are revising the certificate to mirror the revised specialization course sequence of the PhD specialization in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. We are also working on creating a new PhD Counseling Psychology specialization. The PhD specialization in counseling psychology is designed for mental health professionals who are master level licensed clinicians [e.g., LPC, MFT, MSW licensure]. The program is designed for these professionals who seek to improve their theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, while being able to prepare, for example, for a career as a psychology instructor, professor or researcher. In addition, the program is designed to provide for the meaningful integration of theory, practical application and research. It is my hope that the program will go live this fall.
