This is an exciting time in NCU history
as we announce the formation of a new
grants office! I am incredibly thrilled to be
leading this new work as NCU's founding
Sr. Grants Coordinator/Officer within
the Office of the President. In this role,
I will identify external funding sources
and grants, coordinate the necessary
preparation of submission materials, and help manage
the academic side of grants, awards, or gifts received.
In doing so, I will be working with the Deans to coordinate
efforts on behalf of the disciplinary schools, and will be
working closely with the Office of the President, Provost,
and the VPAA, to ensure pursued grant applications are
in support of our institution Mission, and address issues
critical in our communities. The establishment of a grants
office now provides NCU the ability to pursue additional
resources and opportunities to fulfill its vision as a premier
online graduate university and a global leader in higher
education. Over the coming months, grants and gifts
related activities will focus primarily on internal processes
and procedures as we prepare a strong foundation for
research-related activities. We anticipate pursuing grant
funding sometime during the fourth quarter of this year.
Stay tuned!
The NCU Faculty Senate's role is to represent full-time and
part-time faculty interests with university leadership. Did
you know that Faculty Senators are voting members of
the Academic Affairs Committee and are represented, via
the Faculty Senate Chair, on the President's Cabinet? The
more we hear from you about faculty priorities, the better
we can represent you! If you're interested in reading
more about faculty governance, check out the National
Education Association's policy statement on faculty
governance in higher education.
The Senate has been hard at work establishing new
communication channels between the faculty at large
and the Senate. Find us in The Commons in the CTL-Faculty
Resource area, via email at FacultySenate@ncu.edu,
or submit input anonymously via our new Faculty Senate
Feedback Box.
We are excited about the nominations and elections
for open Senate positions we have received this month
and look forward to announcing our new Senate
members soon.
