Being a business owner isn't easy, but it is a dream shared by millions of Americans. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that the number of self-employed individuals will increase from about 9.6 million in 2016 to around 10.3 million in 2026. This indicates that the entrepreneurial community will see plenty of new members in upcoming years, each bringing their own unique offering to the marketplace. If you're interested in becoming an entrepreneur, you might be curious about what it takes to go it alone in the business world. Even if you don't plan on being a solo act, but want to one day have employees or are even considering a partnership, you're still breaking out of the box of being an employee and into the unknown realm of "business owner." This means you probably share some of the common traits found in successful entrepreneurs.
