The University is moving forward with the restructuring of course templates in
NCUOne. The new structure is much more flattened, which means that you will
need to complete fewer clicks to get to the information you need. For example,
all the course information (e.g., course description, course learning outcomes, and
course concepts) will now appear on one page instead of three separate pages.
In addition, Sections have been eliminated for a better flow of the course. The
information will be included as part of the week introductions.
To align with these changes, the Course Development Template that we use for
developing courses has been revised as well. The new template includes such
changes as streamlined and standardized titles and presentation of resources, as
well as brief information about each course resource to promote better engagement
of students with their course materials. The more meaningful the resource appears
to a student, the more likely the student will actually read/watch the resource
and engage with the material. During this revision, Instructional Designers and
Curriculum Directors worked together aiming for consistency of how materials are
presented, to create a better workflow for students and faculty. Keep in mind, the
less attention students need to pay trying to figure out how to get oriented with the
materials and the course in general, the more attention they are actually paying to
the content of the course. I am looking forward to working with all the SMEs using
this new template and hearing your feedback on this new version.
