What's New in the Academic
Success Center?
The Academic Success Center team
has been busy developing resources
to meet the needs of the NCU
community. We invite you to visit our website and explore
the available resources. We are happy to answer any
questions you might have about the Academic Success
Center and look forward to discussing how we can best
support you and your students.
Group Sessions
Since October, we have added three additional group
sessions to the coaching schedule. Students have the
opportunity to practice using APA 6
th
and 7
th
edition during
the Basics of APA Style interactive session. The purpose of
the Academic Writer group session is to provide students
with helpful strategies for using this important tool. When
attending the Fundamentals of NVivo group session,
students have the chance to explore the NVivo interface
and learn how to start their qualitative analysis. With these
additions, students can now choose from 20 skill–based
interactive group sessions every week. Review a list of the
available group sessions with descriptions on our Group
Sessions page.
Self–Directed Resources
One of our ongoing projects is the Academic Success
Center website. Here, we promote self–directed learning
by providing students with written resources that appeal
to all learning modalities through the inclusion of videos,
graphics, and downloadable content. The most recent
additions to our available resources include a page
devoted to APA 7
th
edition and the Writing a Policy Brief
page. Please contact us if you have any suggestions for
additional resources.
The NCU Library
Amanda Ziegler, Director of Library Services
The NCU Library has been busy adding new resources and
services for you!
We are getting ready to launch a new group in The
Commons, the Library Insider. This is your space to learn and
share strategies and insight on all things related to research
and resources. Score updates on NCU Library happenings and get weekly training
tidbits to help strengthen your research skills. Please join us there!
In addition to our existing one–on–one research consultations focused on finding
dissertation resources, we are excited to begin offering one–on–one appointments
for students in Foundations courses, to help learn how to maximize library
resources early in your studies. These one–on–one offerings are in addition to
the multiple group sessions we offer each week on topics ranging from advanced
search skills to RefWorks. View our calendar and find a time that is right for you.
We've also added six new databases to the resources available to you, and you
can find them on the A–Z Databases page (look for the new databases in the right
hand column).
