Curriculum Director, SSBS
Let's examine how we did with hotfixes in 2019. As a reminder, a hotfix is a change that can
be made in live courses; hence, the correction is immediately visible to students. A hotfix cannot
affect course descriptions or course learning outcomes or make a substantial change to an
assignment. These changes will require the ID team to create a new version of the course (marked
as V1, V2, etc.). A hotfix can be made by the School (usually by the Director of Curriculum
Development) or by an Instructional Designer. SSBS is currently the leading School for the
implementation of hotfixes.
As you can see in the redistribution chart, the majority of hotfixes pertain to the broken links,
followed by clarifications made to existing assignments, linkage of assignments to Turnitin, fixing
the access to a text on RedShelf, and adding a resource suggested by a faculty member.
Both departments implemented an equal amount of hotfixes. In the Department of MFS, there is an
equal amount of hotfixes that have been implemented for the Doctoral and Master's level degrees.
In the Psychology Department, more hotfixes affected Doctoral level programs.
Please note, if the link to a resource is broken, it does not mean that the resource is no longer
available in the library. It is possible that the link may have changed and needs to be replaced in
the syllabus. Please email me with any questions pertaining to a broken link and I can confirm if it
is still available or if we need to find a replacement.
Happy New Year!
