Because students love to see their professors talk live, and it is so much
faster and easier to relate the information to a student over a video.
Presently, I go through a few courses at a time every few months to
make sure I have all the Intelligent Agents I want, to add new ones or
update them, and work to just enhance the student experience in each
course. Again, this is very little work with huge benefits for everyone. I
also frequently get email responses when students get these Intelligent
Agent emails about how helpful the information was to them.
Finally, I want to make a point about videos and video feedback.
Sometimes it can feel like something outside of what you might want to
do, but the time it saves and the positivity you get back from students
is well worth it. Generally, when I am having some ideas about videos
for Intelligent Agents, I write down the ideas and then sit down one
day and do a bunch of them. They literally take minutes to make and
then you just need to add them to the course. The same goes for video
feedback in your courses. I think sometimes we forget it is an option and
just continue with annotating the papers and writing some feedback.
While I still do this plenty, I make a mental note to do video feedback
for all courses once every 2-3 weeks. Those weeks I give less written
feedback but students find it just as helpful and enjoy the engagement.
Thus, it not only saves me time, but students seem to like this alternative
feedback option even more. Overall, the use of these basic functions
we have available in NCUOne can save you tons of time while also
facilitating engagement with students.
