WELCOMING CONCORDIA
UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Since Concordia University in Portland, Oregon announced its closure in February,
NCU hired former Concordia faculty and accepted over 400 Concordia students to
complete their programs here.
They include Lindsay Rystad, a sixth-grade teacher from northern Minnesota who's
completing her doctorate in education with a specialization in educational leadership.
She shared on The Commons, "I am feeling very overwhelmed, but excited to continue
my journey at NCU."
Students from Concordia were able to transfer their credits and received additional
assistance from advisors, librarians, and faculty mentors throughout the process.
In case you missed it, Andy Riggle, dean of the School of Education, shared why NCU
was the place for former Concordia students to enroll on this podcast.
STUDENT CENTRIC. REGIONALLY ACCREDITED. NONPROFIT.

It is with great excitement that we announce the successful dissertation defense of
the School of Technology's first doctoral candidate. On Tuesday, May 1 9, Georges
Bellangue defended his dissertation, "Remote Sensing Big Data Analytics: Extracting Soil
Moisture Measurement."
Dr. Bellangue's research is focused on techniques for enhancing the algorithms
used to extract soil moisture from remote-sensing big data. These enhancements lead
to more accurate measurements by providing an understanding of the relationships
between the weather and atmospheric variables and the soil moisture measurements.
The School of Technology, founded in July 2017, currently serves nearly 500 students.
We offer five Master of Science degrees and three Doctor of Philosophy degrees in areas
including cybersecurity, data science, information technology, technology and innovation
management, and computer science. Dr. Bellangue will receive his Doctor of
Philosophy in technology and innovation management with a specialization in data
science.
