Inaugural CAVO Micro-Conference
NCU's Center for the Advancement of Virtual Organizations hosted its first micro-
conference on June 18. About 150 people attended the three-hour event exploring

American Psychological Association Conference
Drs. Ackerman, Blackwell, and Shapira of the Department of Psychology, presented
a study on online dissertations at this year's conference, held virtually in August. They
presented at Division 2, the Society for the Teaching of Psychology, as well as the
competitive Science in the Morning poster competition.
Countering Cyber Threats to Financial Institutions
Dave Lowery, DPA, professor of homeland security and public administration, recently
co-authored a book with a collaborator at Polytechnique Montréal. Their book
explores the cybersecurity challenges faced by the public and private sectors of the
financial industry. They share the results from a series of interviews with cybersecurity
professionals based in Canada to better understand the potential risks and threats that
financial institutions face.

David Ison, PhD, published a paper, "Statistical procedures for evaluating trends in
coronavirus disease-19 in the United States," in the Sept.-Oct. 2020 issue.
