5. Follow up with students who are struggling. Reaching out
via email to students who have been having a difficult time, either in
school or personally, can help them to know you care about them and
their success. I have also found it really helpful to connect students with
other members of their team and let them know there is a group of
dedicated staff there to support them.

The task of a teacher is not to work for the pupil nor to oblige him to
work, but to show him how to work.

As an educator, I often remind myself that what we do each day matters.
When we have a breakthrough with a student who has been struggling,
our efforts matter. When we take the time to explain an idea in a way that
helps the student – it matters. When we recognize that we have done our
best, even if it appears things may not change – it matters.
