NCU HAPPENINGS | WINTER 2020 2 NCU ACCREDITATION: A HUGE THANKS TO ALL! Jessica Hensley, Assistant Dean, Graduate School Last month, a portion of the NCU community participated in NCU's Reaffirmation of Accreditation virtual visit. NCU welcomed the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) review team, which was composed of five experienced educators from peer institutions and NCU's WSCUC liaison. The virtual visit occurred October 6-9, 2020, and the WSCUC review team met with more than 100 individuals representing NCU's students, alumni, faculty, and staff members. During the virtual visit, NCU faculty and staff members articulated how NCU, as a mission- driven institution, ensures educational effectiveness in graduate education through a focus on student success, continuous improvement, and a culture that promotes integrity, inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration. Most notably, NCU faculty members provided the WSCUC review team with a comprehensive understanding of NCU's unique one-to- one teaching model, and the multitude of ways that faculty use the Teaching Through Engagement pedagogy to meaningfully support, interact, and connect with students. We appreciate the WSCUC review team's substantial dedication and contributions during this process, resulting in a robust, engaging, and positive Reaffirmation of Accreditation visit. In the coming weeks, the WSCUC review team will finalize and submit their visit report to the WSCUC Commission. The WSCUC Commission will finalize NCU's Reaffirmation of Accreditation outcome (including the number of years granted) at the next Commission meeting, scheduled for February. We hope to receive the outcome by mid-March, and we will communicate the outcome with the NCU community shortly thereafter. On behalf of the NCU leadership team, thank you for your support of this process. Whether you participated in the virtual visit, in the training sessions or courses, served on (or provided information to) an institutional report writing team, volunteered to review report narratives and documentation, or volunteered to complete the initial assessment of NCU's compliance with the WSCUC expectations (which launched NCU's reaffirmation process in mid-2018), we recognize and appreciate your ongoing commitment to accreditation. We extend our thanks to all.
