As I embarked on conducting numerous hours of research, oftentimes, I became very weary. It was at
those nadirs that an article referencing a quotation by a Hungarian biochemist, Albert Szent-Gyorgyi,
would resuscitate my faltering stamina. He said, "Research is to see what everyone else has seen and
to think what nobody else has thought" (Szent-Gyorgyi, 1957). With that statement in mind, I gained
strength and understanding to persevere. The excitement I experienced when exploring current research
on a specific topic and while formulating my research project, which will expand our community's
knowledge of the subject matter at hand, has provided me with a great sense of pride.
I can honestly and forthrightly state, if it were not for the excellent collaboration with faculty, staff, and the
administration at NCU, my dissertation odyssey would not have been possible. Their insights, suggestions,
rationales, recommendations, and positive comments all served to open my eyes wider, to dig deeper,
and to write better about the subject matter at hand. Thank you, NCU, for reaffirming my belief in these
four principal academic areas of my life. The University has served me well, and I trust I will continue to
serve others in a similar vein.

"I was fearful and nervous, yet I remained faithful and
committed to seeing this odyssey through its successful
conclusion. The dissertation odyssey, thus far, has
allowed me to expand my thought processes and mind
to levels I did not imagine were attainable for me.."
