A Professor to Know Michelle L. Ackerman, PhD, is Professor of Psychology at Northcentral University. She is a Developmental Psychologist with 14 years of teaching and research experience and has been a faculty member at NCU since 2010. Her main scholarly interests relate to the psychology of aging, including cognitive functioning, cognitive aging, cognitive and physical training, and applied everyday outcomes, such as mobility and driving. She has authored or co-authored 15 peer-reviewed articles or book chapters and more than 25 presentations and invited lectures. She was recently highlighted in a CounselingSchool.com article on "Professors to know in online PhD programs in psychology." She is very interested in online education, because she believes that higher education should be accessible for everyone. It can be difficult in terms of time and location for many people to attend a traditional university, and she is excited to be part of a system that provides quality education with the flexibility and availability of an online format. In her personal time she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming, and is a self-professed bookworm with a room full of bookshelves. 2020 has brought many challenges, changes, and opportunities. One change has been the leadership of NCUPA. Michelle Ackerman, PhD, Patrick McNamara, PhD, and Maria Rodriguez, PhD are proud to serve as the new Co-Chairs of this Association. We would like to thank the founding Chairs: Dr. Lindsay Wright and Dr. Daimon VerĂ¡ce for their hard work and dedication to developing this student- focused group. CO-CHAIR SPOTLIGHT: Michelle L.
