Maria Antonia Rodriguez, PhD, is Associate Professor and Program Lead for Health Psychology
at Northcentral University. For the past year, she has served as Faculty Laureate at NCU working
on initiatives, such as creating a training for faculty on Teaching through Engagement. She is also
Associate Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and was a Health Science
Specialist at the Department of Veterans Affairs for over eight years. She is a Clinical Health
Psychologist interested in the design, implementation, and evaluation of psychological interventions
for people living with chronic health conditions; women's health and wellbeing; and cultural
psychology. She has been the PI or Co-PI on seven funded research studies. She has authored
or co-authored 15 peer-reviewed articles or book chapters and more than 20 presentations at
conferences. Most recently she was on the Academic Minute segment on NPR talking about a
telephone-based intervention for veterans with hypertension. In 2020, she was awarded the APA
Early Career Achievement Award and the NCU award for Outstanding Student Engagement
Teaching Excellence in Full-time Faculty. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing with her
toddler, yoga, trying new restaurants, and reading.
