6 As my NCU experience comes to a close, I reflect on the last six years of higher education with this university fondly. Starting this graduate program in 2015 was both exciting and nerve-wracking. I was a new mom; a new single mom to a one-and-a-half-year-old boy. Even though I was well-established in my career, I was stressfully pondering how I was going to balance work, motherhood, and school. Somehow, I managed. And even though it was a struggle, some courses more than others, I could not be happier with my accomplishments and my experiences with Northcentral University and the Doctor of Philosophy in Health Psychology degree I have earned. NCU has provided me with a structured, user-friendly forum to learn and work in order to study through my degree program. Each mentor brought something unique and challenging to the course curriculum, which boosted my knowledge in the field of psychology, as well as many subfields. I discovered both personal and professional strengths and weaknesses throughout each course and over the years, which have allowed me to sharpen my skills and broaden my knowledge in many areas of my life. The NCU Library is so well-organized, and I found it easy to find exactly what I needed while pushing through literature reviews and gathering information for research. The dissertation center is well-equipped with everything needed to prepare students for their journey through navigating a dissertation and defense. The recorded oral defense examples and having the opportunity to join and observe live oral dissertation defenses has really prepared me for my big day. Dissertation templates were right at my fingertips, as well as access to ask questions and discuss concerns with experts in the field and IRB resources. Finally, I could not have asked for a better chair to teach me and work with me through my dissertation coursework. NCU has really proved to be a step above when it comes to online education. I look forward to what the year ahead brings as I close out my lengthy chapter with NCU and carry my new title of Doctor of Philosophy. Student Contributions Jessica Taves The Psychology Bulletin
