It is with much enthusiasm, as well as a bit of sadness, that today I submit this collaboration for the Psychology Bulletin as Student Editor for the last time. I feel very moved because I am going to leave this position after the happy experience I had of graduating from the University April 19. I would like to first and foremost thank Dr. Veráce, who coincidentally was my SME, as well as the professor who gave me the opportunity to access this position. Also, I would like to thank my current colleagues with whom I have had a few wonderful opportunities to work and collaborate during the second phase of the bulletin: Professors Dr. María Rodriguez, Dr. Patrick McNamara, Sherry Rieder, and Dr. Michelle Ackerman. Although fleeting, it was a very pleasant experience to have had the opportunity to be part of such a professional team. Additionally, given the general theme for this edition is on "professional development," I think it is adequate to begin by answering the question of: what is professional development? The term professional development encompasses a wide range of aspects, including continuing education, offered by NCU and other universities. Continuing education, of course, also refers to any type of specialized skills-based training or certifications received in order to improve upon proficiencies necessary for good job performance and success in a career. So the purpose of professional development is to increase knowledge, add skills, and gain confidence. Other aspects of professional development include conducting research, engaging in coaching or mentoring, and participating in organizations or associations. Tatiana A. Schiavone, PhD Student Editor Spotlight 4 NCUPA Summer Bulletin
