I think the most important contribution he has made to my learning is through his encouragement of personal development. [Supervisor] emphasizes how learning is a continuous process. Because he approaches supervision from this stance, he always structures his feedback in a way that that instills confidence and hope in the interns, helping us understand that our journey is only beginning and there is much more learning ahead. Furthermore, not only is he well-versed in systems practices and MFT ethical guidelines, he can also provide qualified feedback for the population with which I encounter every day - servicemembers and their families. It is a great privilege to work under his direction." "One of my favorite things about my current site supervisor is her ability to conceptualize the cases that I bring to her with little information. She has a passion for the work that she does and I appreciate the knowledge and empathy that she provides. She always reminds me to strengthen the therapeutic alliances with my clients before jumping into the work 'too early.' She allows me to take my time and does not rush me to come to a conclusion when faced with ethical dilemmas. She trusts the judgement of all of her interns, but provides feedback on how to protect ourselves and best care for the individuals that we are working with. She has gone above and beyond to work with my work schedule and help me to finish the required hours of supervision and client contact hours." "[Supervisor] has been warm, supportive, and helpful as I have moved into clinical training. She has discussed a variety of client themes with me that have helped me gain cultural and professional competence. She is incredibly efficient, and I have always been given the tools needed for my success. I am grateful for her patience with my insecurities and nervous energy. Her office (my site) is a welcoming environment that has left my clients feeling comfortable and at ease. I am very grateful for her solid, professional experience, which is invaluable to me as I continue to grow as a clinician." "[Supervisor] is a naturally empathic person, so her sensitivity comes very naturally when working with diverse clients. She has provided me with many training opportunities, and after implementing her empathic response exercise, my rapport building is happening quickly and easily. [She] has also been great at helping me learn how to enhance my questions that pull out relational dynamics and provide a greater understanding to the system as a whole. [Supervisor]'s knowledge of the laws in [state] and MFT ethics is extensive. She also has a large resource library and if she doesn't know the answer, she knows where she can find it. But honestly, every question I've asked her about an ethical situation, she had experienced in her career or she was aware of the law or guideline that applied to it. [Supervisor] is constantly pursuing additional educational activities and engaging with colleagues to enhance her knowledge base. She is writing books and presenting at workshops and writes grants. All of these activities help her develop her professional competence and allow her to pass on her wisdom to her supervisees. She is a fantastic supervisor who is invested in preparing all of those under her supervision to gain as much training as possible from her and to develop into successful therapists." "[Supervisor]'s wealth of experience with a variety of presenting issues and populations has helped me navigate through my own cases and ethical decisions. Her systemic outlook has helped reinforce my own pair of systemic lens, reminding me of the larger social components to consider. Her chameleon-like ability of being able to engage with clients where they are while being authentically herself all at the same time has challenged me to develop my own professional self and use it as an anchor while adapting to the various needs of my clients." "My supervisors have provided professional guidance on a range of topics with clarity and vast knowledge. The support system at [site] provides many levels of supervision with many experts to turn to on different topics. Both supervisors have provided support outside of regularly scheduled supervision when I needed it and have counselled me through challenging sessions with outstanding leadership and empathy. They have also been adaptable to my supervision needs and have taken due care to ensure I am getting the hours I need. My professional competence has grown with their guidance and encouragement to be vulnerable, dig deeper and make mistakes." In addition to the quantitative data collected, interns are also asked to provide qualitative reflections. Here are some examples of what interns are saying about you.
