It is my great pleasure to step into the student editor role for the Northcentral University Psychological
Association Bulletin. I would like to thank Dr. Maria Rodriguez, Dr. Patrick McNamara, and Dr. Sherry Rieder
for entrusting me with this position. I look forward to maintaining the level of quality content that the previous
student editor, Dr. Tatiana Schiavone, provided for this bulletin.
As this is my first spotlight piece for the bulletin, I would like to take the opportunity to let you know a bit more
about me and why I chose Northcentral University to further my education and enhance my professional
development. I currently live in South Carolina with my wife of 18 years and our rescue dogs: a pekingese/
miniature pinscher mix named Elphaba and a miniature schnauzer/toy poodle mix named Iggy. My pronouns
are she/her/hers, and I identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I am board certified as a holistic
health and wellness coach and a holistic nutritionist. My graduate-level education includes a Master of Arts
in counseling and a Master of Education in physical education with a concentration in exercise science. I am
halfway through my second academic year in the health psychology track of the PhD in psychology program
here at NCU. My research interests include eating disorders and obesity, food insecurity, and the health
implications of minority stress in the LGBTQ+ population.
