FACULTYSPOTLIGHT RAGAN WHITTINGTON, PHD Adjunct Faculty, Department of Marriage and Family Sciences Ragan obtained her PhD in Marriage and Family Studies from Amridge University and her Master in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in marriage and family therapy from the University of Alabama. Her undergraduate degree in communication studies was also obtained from the University of Alabama. Ragan's dissertation included research concerning maternal identity in women who lost their mothers during childhood. She has an interest in research and clinical work with childhood bereavement. Ragan is a licensed marriage and family therapist for the state of Alabama, and provides in-home family therapy for children with behavioral and emotional needs. Ragan has taught at NCU for two years. She teaches courses in Foundations, Psycho- pathology, Systemic Evaluation and Family Development. She was recently elected a member of the adjunct faculty council. This past November, Ragan and her husband welcomed their first child, Lila. In her spare time, Ragan enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching football, reading, and trying new restaurants. Ragan is also involved in the preschool ministry at her church.
