The presenters shared insight from their own research experiences and talked about how they include various frameworks in order to be mindful of power and privilege. These frameworks included Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Model (White and Klein, 2008), Feminist Theory, and Black Feminist Theory (Walker, 1983). Specifically, Dr. Sutton described how Black Feminist Theory takes an intersectional approach that looks at how heterosexism, classism, and racism are linked (Martin, 1993; Rahman, 2009). In addition to sharing information about some of the limitations of existing literature, presenters shared ideas about how to be a critical consumer of literature and how to be mindful of diversity considerations while designing your own study. This webinar was recorded and will be transcribed and then shared in the Commons if you would like to learn more. Butler, C. (2015).
