It was so great to see those of you who attended Sympo- sium in Phoenix – and in 3D! I look forward to seeing many of you at the AAMFT conference in Atlanta later this year! We accomplished much as a Department while at the Symposium/Commencement. The videos that were filmed related to the history of MFT, Systems Theory and six models of therapy will greatly enrich the curriculum and the student experience for DMFS students. It was so fun to engage in that activity with all of you! Thanks for your efforts at preparing content and doing the filming. We worked together on all aspects of the process so effectively. Look soon for the outcome of those efforts!! It is exciting to consider the additional information that many faculty continue to prepare on the topics listed above. In addition to the role-plays and panel discussions, they will be preparing written content (15-20 pages) and several mini-lectures that will be "storyboarded" by our colleagues in Marketing. It really is an exciting prospect to have more and more of our own content – generated by all of us who have such a deep commitment to our profession and to the success of our students. It was such a thrill to see so many of our students at graduation! This was a record year with 45 students (42 MAMFT and 3 PhD) attending graduation. We had a wonderful reception for those who were inducted into the Delta Kappa International MFT Honor Society. It was so gratifying to feel their excitement and enthusiasm for the profession and for their opportunities within MFT. We know the dates of the self-study for the MAMFT reaccreditation process. The site visit team will conduct the site visit in Scottsdale in preparation for the official site visit from November 6 to 8. There will be additional information released regarding preparations for the visit and engagement in the actual visit. For most faculty and staff, the visit will be virtual meetings, the number of Darren Adamson, PhD | Chair, Department of Marriage and Family Sciences which depends upon the various roles played in the program (teaching, clinical, etc.). We have welcomed additional adjunct faculty to the Department of Marriage and Family Sciences since the last edition of the Newsletter. Warm welcome to the following colleagues: • Becca Boyle • Sharon Bursky • Judith Cannon • Megan McCoy • Alisha Rorer • Holli Kelly-Trombley • Jennifer Weniger • Michael Whitehead We are so happy to welcome these highly qualified faculty to the DMFS. They will contribute much to our success as a Department by contributing to the success of our students. We continue to grow, albeit slower than in the past. The MAMFT currently has 1,233 students. The doctoral programs have 256 students, and we have 72 students in certificate programs. That is a total of 1,561 students who we are serving as a faculty in the DMFS. That is the largest MFT program in the world! The more important statistic is that we are preparing our graduates to work as therapists and scholar/practitioners. One evidence of this is found in the MFT licensure exam pass rate. It currently stands at just over 99% with more than 150 graduates having taken it. The reason for that success is YOU as faculty and the staff who support us! I appreciate the opportunity to work with each one of you. . . it is a professional experience that exceeds any other that I have had in my 30 years as a MFT. Thanks to each of you for all that you do!
