Supervisor would have liked more communication throughout practicum and internship about what was happening with the student. She would have liked to know when the student started a new course. It's challenging when there's a 3rd-party AAMFT supervisor. The on-site supervisor has a better view of how many hours the student is earning – should the on-site approve the hours? Instructors will include a comment in the week 8 email communication with the local supervisor: "in four weeks, your student will be transitioning to a new class… submit end of course evaluation…" Recommendations: Have on-site supervisor sign a log that the student can take to 3rd party supervisor. The student could print the activity details report from T2T and have the onsite person sign that before the off-site signs it. Note: These are options for those supervisors who have a question/concern. For those who have a process that is working, this is not a requirement. Supervisor expressed concern/question about how the program handles students who take 1-2 week vacations during clinical work– do we have a policy? Supervisor asked what clinical experience students have prior to practicum (i.e. observation, role-play and pseudo-therapy experience). Supervisor identified that as a gap in the student's training. We added a sentence about vacations to the clinical handbook. During the clinical readiness interview and supervisor check in – Drs. Fawcett & Henline talk with students about communicating with the site regarding planned time off and emergencies. We need to add this to the new Practicum Preparation Process as we transition from Taskstream to NCUOne. During applicant interview, students are told to expect to spend 18-20 hours per week at site. During the Supervisor Check-in, Dr. Henline talks about total hours needed and how accruing 10 therapy hours per weeks requires closer to 15-20 hours on site. During the clinical readiness interview, Dr. Fawcett will add a conversation about the indirect time that is needed to earn the direct hours toward graduation (similar to licensure), and how indirect hours do count pre-graduation in a few states. FEEDBACK SHARED CLINICAL MEETING CONVERSATION & FOLLOW-UP Local supervisor question: what is program expectation regarding how much time student should spend on-site to accrue 10 therapy hours per week?
