profits. Women were required to sit on all councils where decisions were made in order to bring in the feminine perspective and as a balanced way to meet everyone's needs. Now some areas of indigenous teachings seem to be making their mark today. For example, if you think about the concept of mindfulness, in many ways it has somewhat evolved from the aboriginal concept of the 'walk about,' walking about but being mindful of what is all around you at the moment. For the past few years, I have been working on the development of curriculum for a Legacy Wisdom School for Children and Youth. This 'school' is not replacing the skill building that our children get in traditional schools, but rather augmenting them with some new and different concepts and tools. And it is not being developed as a traditional formal building structure type of school, but rather an attempt to bridge these teachings and technology to create new and different educational paradigms. In fact, I, along with my colleagues, presented a professional development workshop entitled "Creating Leadership through a Spirit-Based Education Paradigm" at the Leadership, Spirituality & Education International Conference of the International Association of Management, Spirituality and Religion this past May at the University of Arkansas. We are also currently looking into how to translate some of the curriculum into apps. The Legacy Wisdom School curriculum is broken into three age levels: Moonbeams and Sunrays (elementary school), Fifth Dimension Initiates (middle school), and New Design Leaders (high school and college). The Moonbeams and Sunrays program is aimed at providing elementary school age youth with a baseline of teachings on respecting and honoring self, others and nature. This program provides youth with a deeper understanding of the earth and its resources and gifts. For example, how many people really know that aspirin comes from the salicylic acid in willow trees, or that the reason that Purdue is giving its chickens oregano and thyme is because these are natural antibiotics? Being a leader also means being a good steward of the gifts from nature, but to do that we need to be aware of the abundant gifts in our plants, trees, rocks and animals. Fifth Dimension Initiates are 'the bridgers,' and the focus is on how we interconnect; how to respect that interconnectedness by having a better understanding of self and others; and of dialoguing at a much earlier age about gender and diversity issues so that we can accept and understand each other better. New Design Leaders are going to be the future Architects of a New Paradigm, but lack many of the leadership skills they will need to address the complex problems they will inherit. The curriculum for this age group is designed to help youth see problems and leadership through new and different lenses. The curriculum is based on many indigenous and ancient teachings. And these teachings are the foundation for the book I am currently researching on Ancient Teachings-Future Learnings; Sacred Leadership for New Generation. Now that much of the Legacy program has been developed I am also looking at the best means to launch the program and, of course, the funds and resources that will be needed to do that.
