DOCTORAL PROGRAMS Doctor of Philosophy in Marriage and Family (PhD-MFT) Available Specializations: • Child and Adolescent Therapy • Couple Therapy • General Family Therapy • Medical Family Therapy • Therapy with Military Families The faculty and curriculum in our COAMFTE-accredited PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy program will provide you with a quality education and training experience that will challenge you to develop critical thinking and research skills, while applying what you learn to professional practice in the field of marriage and family therapy (MFT). As a result of this premier accreditation, a high standard of excellence is expected. Program faculty are selected for their MFT expertise and ability to support students, and facilitate exceptional educational attainment. The program is focused on developing the skills, and personal and professional growth required for effective practice and research in the field of marriage and family therapy. The doctoral program offers advanced clinical education and training, research coursework and opportunities, and supervision training and experience. Graduates of the doctoral program will be prepared to carry out advanced clinical work and supervision and/or education and research in the field of marriage and family therapy. The Student Learning Outcomes of the PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy program are: • Students will learn how to interact professionally with diverse populations in academic, clinical, supervision and research settings. • Students will demonstrate an advanced knowledge of and application of clinical skills in systemic therapy and supervision. • Students will demonstrate a doctoral-level knowledge of and skill in conducting research within the field of Marriage and Family Therapy. • Students will demonstrate professional expertise in an area of specialization related to the field of Marriage and Family Therapy.
