FACULTYSPOTLIGHT PAM MACDONALD, PH.D. Full-Time Faculty, Department of Psychology Pam started working for NCU in August 2017. She was hired as a lead faculty member for the Child and Adolescent Development Master's program. Pam was previously a Full Professor at Emporia State University (ESU) in Kansas, but resigned her position in order to move to California for her spouse's career opportunity. At ESU, Pam was a Professor in the Experimental Psychology graduate program, Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and a Faculty Senator. She was also the faculty sponsor for the psychology club at ESU. Before ESU, Pam was an Assistant and Associate Professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Pam has an earned Doctorate in Developmental Psychology and a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology. She has taught at the college level for about 26 years, including years spent as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Houston. Pam has been teaching online classes for about 13 years now. Online education has made remarkable advances during this time period! Pam has also chaired over 35 graduate thesis and dissertation committees during her career. Pam's research is in the area of program evaluation or in other words, evaluating the effectiveness of intervention programs. She designed one of the first empirical evaluations of equine-facilitated therapy/learning in the United States and has worked with programs internationally. She is particularly interested in programs that intervene with at-risk youth. Pam has numerous publications and presentations on a variety of subjects in developmental psychology, with an emphasis on childhood and adolescence. Pam currently lives in Fresno, California with her husband, two teenaged daughters, two dogs and two cats. Her hobbies include reading, cycling, hiking, cooking, and watching her daughters play soccer. She also teaches spinning classes at her local gym a few times a week!
