28 | Faculty Teaching Responsibilities | NCU Faculty Handbook The Academic Integrity Violation Letter can be found in NCUOne > University Services Module> University Documents. Questions regarding the Academic Integrity policy and the use of Turnitin should be directed to the Assistant Dean of Faculty or Department Chair. Student Attendance and Course Participation Academic Related Activities Academic-Related Activities (ARAs) are used to determine a student's official last date of attendance and corresponding enrollment status at the University. ARAs are also used to determine the effective date of active and withdrawn enrollment statuses. Academic-Related activities in NCUOne include: • Viewing new content in a course. • Submitting an item to Dropbox. • Taking a quiz. • Posting to a discussion board. NOTE: Academic related activities must be posted to an online course no later than Sunday at 11:59 P.M. Arizona time each week to be counted for attendance verification. Attendance and Continuous Enrollment Requirements NCU requires students to engage in an academic-related activity at least once every 28 calendar days from the last date of attendance to maintain continuous enrollment. Students who fail to comply with attendance and continuous enrollment requirements will be administratively withdrawn from their course by the Office of the Registrar and may be issued an academic letter grade in accordance with the University's Grading policies and procedures. NOTE: When doctoral candidates are not actively enrolled in a course, they have limited communication with NCU support staff and may not engage in certain activities related to their research. Specifically, doctoral candidates must be actively enrolled in a course to have contact with their dissertation chair. Doctoral candidates must also be actively enrolled in a course in order to perform data collection or have any contact with their human subjects if their Institutional Review Board (IRB) application has been approved. Student Attendance and Responsibility of Faculty Faculty are responsible for determining when a student is not actively participating in the course. When this occurs, faculty should attempt to contact a student by email and phone to encourage re-engagement in the course. Faculty should utilize the At-Risk notification tool located in the University Services Module in NCUOne to alert Student and Financial Services or Disability Services to seek extra support for students that remain unresponsive. NOTE: On occasion, military students may have special circumstances that inhibit their ability to academically participate on a weekly basis. Such students should contact their instructor to establish a schedule for submitting their course work and notify their Academic and Finance Advisor of these arrangements.
