NCU Faculty Handbook | Introduction | 5 SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION About this Handbook The Northcentral University Faculty Handbook provides an overview of faculty roles and the teaching experience at NCU. This handbook helps to define NCU's commitment to teaching and student learning in the graduate culture we embrace.* While the Faculty Handbook is not a contract that guarantees future employment, it is designed to offer quick access to policies and information so that faculty members can understand the terms and conditions of their employment. Additional Northcentral University policies and procedures are contained in the Catalog and the Policy and Procedures Manual (PPM). As a thriving and evolving institution, NCU regularly updates this handbook. The latest approved version will be located in the Faculty Resource Area (FRA) of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and FRANK. It is not possible for this handbook to explain every organizational policy, rule, practice, procedure, and benefit. Faculty members should consult the Handbook to gain general knowledge of policies and practice. If an individual circumstance requires additional information, faculty can consult with their dean, assistant dean, or human resources liaison. The University reserves the right to review, revise, remove, and interpret the policies and procedures set forth in this handbook and the PPM, and to update them as appropriate to comply with legal and regulatory obligations. All revisions to the Handbook will follow the governance review and approval processes as outlined in PPM. Federal, state, or local laws prevail in the event of a conflict with the content of this guide. Faculty should also refer to the NCU Team Member Handbook, which contains additional information about employment policies and procedures. The Team Member Handbook is available on Human Resources' FRANK site. Faculty members are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with these policies, practices, and procedures. Faculty may propose changes and additions to this handbook through their representative on the Faculty Senate or Academic Affairs Committee (AAC). Integration with Other Handbooks The Faculty Handbook summarizes policies and practices in effect for University faculty at the time of publication. This handbook supersedes all previously issued faculty handbooks. Various University policies and procedures are appended to this handbook and should be treated as fully incorporated into this handbook. *Throughout this handbook, Northcentral University may be referred to as "Northcentral University," "NCU" or "the University."
