NCU Faculty Handbook | Faculty Development | 47 Faculty Research Awards The goal of the Faculty Research Awards is to enhance scholarly productivity by providing Northcentral University faculty members with a substantial amount of time devoted to pursuing their research agendas. Details and application requirements can be found in the Faculty Resource Area of the CTL. There are different research awards available annually, based on budget approval and available funding. The first research award is the Faculty Research Capacity Award (FRCA). Full-time faculty awarded the FRCA will be able to obtain a reduction in their workload based on approved scholarly research endeavors. There are multiple FRCA available each year, contingent upon available funds. Once an FRCA is approved, funding will be made available for the duration of the articulated research timeline to support the reduction in workload, provided all stipulations and deadlines have been satisfactorily met. The second award is the Faculty Research Support Award (FRSA). The FRSA provides funding for full-time faculty to pursue research endeavors in addition to their current work commitments. Both awards require the submission and approval of an application and associated documents, as well as ongoing reporting regarding research progress and results. Additionally, faculty recipients will be expected to present their research progress and/or results at Faculty Symposium. Academic Honoraria NCU seeks to promote scholarly publications by our faculty (full-time and part-time). As such, NCU provides up to three Publication Honoraria to faculty annually throughout the calendar year. These stipends are independent of professional development funds. The number of stipends awarded to faculty will depend on annual budget approvals and available funds. Eligibility A scholarly contribution normally entails: • Primary authorship of an academic publication in a peer-reviewed journal or professional presentation at a national or international conference for which presentations are peer- reviewed. • Publication of a book with a university or professionally recognized scholarly press. • Authorship of a chapter in, or serving as editor of, an anthology published with a university or recognized scholarly press. Northcentral University must be clearly indicated as the author's or the presenter's primary academic affiliation. Details on the application process for the honoraria can be found in the Faculty Resource Area of the CTL. Poster and Presentation Honoraria NCU seeks to promote scholarly presentations and posters by our full-time faculty and staff with the identification of NCU as affiliated with these works. In addition to our current faculty awards is providing poster and presentation Honoraria. These stipends are independent of professional development funds.
