It may seem odd to some that the government helps
people pay for their higher education, but many feel that
society as a whole benefits by having a more educated
populace. The government recognized this, and in 1965
passed the Higher Education Act. Over the years this act
has been modified and reauthorized several times.
Most of the federal financial aid you'll hear about in
your search for school funding is likely to fall under Title
IV Funds. This is a part of the Higher Education Act and
includes a range of financial aid offerings by the
government including grant and loan programs.
