Student Loans Unlike scholarships and grants, student loans must be paid back. This is vital to keep in mind as you consider using loans to finance your education. Fortunately, there are many student-friendly loan options that can allow you to borrow responsibly while working on your higher education goals. The federal government offers student loans through two programs: the William D. Ford Direct Federal Loan Program (Direct Loan) and the Federal Perkins Loan Program. While these programs are more complex than we can cover here, you should know some key facts regarding these programs which follow. Student loans are a complicated subject.
