Greetings Esteemed Colleagues! What an exciting year so far in the Department of Marriage and Family Sciences (DMFS) as we reach the halfway point of 2018. We made history again in the MAMFT – after being the first online program to achieve COAMFTE accreditation, we are now the first (neck and neck with Capella) to achieve reaccreditation of our online MAMFT . . . and for seven years!! What an amazing outcome of a lot of work by many people. Particular KUDOS and thanks go to Dr. Lisa Kelledy for her tireless efforts in leading the process of writing an exceptional self-study and preparing all of our students and all of us for the site visit. We continue to provide exceptional education and training to our 1,500+ students who are scattered across the globe (18 countries and all 50 states). Thanks to each of you for your efforts in engaging students in the learning process! You find ways to help students learn concepts they will need to know and to develop skills they will need to have to practice as MFTs. We are making a difference in the world and in the lives of the people we serve and that our students will serve. Here are a few of the many things that are happening: • As a community, we have experienced much happiness and excitement as well as deep sadness and loss. We have come together as colleagues to celebrate and to support. That embodies our mission as a group of passionate helping professionals. Thanks for your thoughtfulness! • Although the process of adding faculty-authored content has slowed down a bit due to changes in the Instructional Design team, we are moving forward to find creative ways to implement the content as soon as possible. MFT-5101 will be finalized and built in the fall. We are going to put together lists of content pertinent to each course and ask faculty to share it as applicable to particular student learning. Yulia Watters and I are editing a book containing content that the DMFS faculty have written (it is over 300 pages so far). This book will be built in a digital format and will be hosted on Redshelf.
