Bettina Shapira, PhD | Chair, Department of Psychology Greetings and Happy Fall! General Updates I am sure all of you are aware that we launched the Master of Science in Educational Psychology program in July of this year. This is our fifth Master of Science program. Thanks to everyone who was involved in the development of this program. Fall is the time of the year that we start looking forward to next year, which means we are starting to think about next year's budget. It is my hope that we can tackle a variety of curriculum projects next year. For example, I hope we can revise our PhD Industrial/Organizational Psychology specialization. The revised I/O program will provide students with the opportunity for an applied experience in the form of an internship. We are also planning to start working on a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling, which we hope will eventually be CACREP accredited. There are some other projects I hope to tackle next year. I will have more information on this in the next edition. Welcome Dr. McNamara With great excitement, I want to welcome Dr. Patrick McNamara as a full-time professor to the Department of Psychology. Dr. McNamara holds a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience from Boston University. He started his career at Northcentral University as a part-time Faculty member in the then School of Psychology. Later he became of a full-time dissertation chair in the Graduate School as well as in the School of Business. We are excited he has returned to the Psychology department. Please join me in welcoming Dr. McNamara! Symposium It was great meeting with many of you in person or virtually. I found the symposium sessions very informative, especially the sessions around National University, and of course our School and Department breakout sessions. As always, I wish we would have more time just to hang out, chat, and get to know each other. We are currently in the planning phase of our annual mini symposium, which we hold every year in December. If you have a topic that you would like to discuss in our meeting in December, please contact me at bshapira@ncu.edu. Thank you! Thank you for your great work with your students and, for so many, your involvement in curriculum projects. Please know that all of your work and efforts do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.
