Driven by his love for nursing and its potential to inspire
change for the promotion of health, Dr. Larry Goins has
worked in nursing practice, education, and administration
for more than 25 years. After earning a Master of Science
in Nursing, he began fulfilling his dream to become a
nurse educator. He has developed a strong foundation
in traditional, online, and flexible delivery systems of
nursing education and has served as faculty, chair and
founding dean in several nursing education programs
in the Southeast.
Dr. Goins earned his Doctor of Nursing Practice from
East Carolina University with a focus on nursing
leadership, a Doctor of Education in Higher Education
Leadership from Argosy University, a Master of Science
in Nursing from Andrews University, and Bachelor of
Science in Nursing from Tennessee Technological
University. He began his professional nursing career
upon graduating from Baroness Erlanger Hospital
School of Nursing in Chattanooga, TN. He is a
Tennessee-licensed registered nurse and advanced
practice nurse. Dr. Goins is also certified by the
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a
clinical nurse specialist in adult/gerontological nursing
and as a nurse executive. He is a member of the
American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses
Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing
Honor Society.
Dr. Goins lives in East Tennessee where he was recently
in active practice in rural healthcare, as director of acute
care and medical/surgical nursing for Tennova-LaFollette
Medical Center and served as dean of nursing at
Pellissippi State Community College.
