Q: Are there any findings that provide guidance for NCU moving forward? A: Absolutely, there were several. I will focus here on two. First, the findings of success surrounding the 1-to-1 model supports an expanded view of developing that model in a more robust way towards a true developmental apprenticeship/mentorship model of developing epistemological and ontological change in the forging of a professional identity, especially at the doctoral level. This can be especially powerful in SSBS because so many of the programs rely on developing different ways of knowing and being. Second, the quality of life measures and the holistic view of our alumni as to what constitutes success align well with the recent applied/professional doctorate study (I am working on a white paper summary of that study now). The perceptions of faculty, administrators, professional advisory board, and student advisory board describe a preferred future state of the programs that include much broader conceptions of what constitutes beneficiaries, relevant knowledge, legitimacy, and visions of efficacy than the current state. Our constituents focus on community, quality of life, clinical skill in support of clients, successful practice, and the public good, which is consistent with the lived reality of our alumni and the contributions they make out in the world. Q: Do you think NCU will undertake a survey like this again in the future? A: I believe we will. I have recommended that we do so periodically to supplement and validate our internal institutional research efforts. NORTHCENTRAL UNIVERSITY GRADUATES ARE THRIVING NEW GALLUP STUDY MEASURES THE VALUE OF AN NCU DEGREE The majority of Graduates report they had an NCU professor that made them excited about learning. 90% OF NCU GRADUATES PASSIONATE ALUMNI report that their current work is completely or somewhat related to what was studied in their degree program. The majority of NCU Alumni are deeply interested in the work they do and feel that they are working in areas that are of interest to them. Students chose NCU for its regional accreditation, extensive program offerings and because we have no physical residency requirements. ACCREDITATION MATTERS In 2018, 2,112 NCU alumni participated in a study by Gallup to measure the value of their Northcentral University degree. Some key findings reported by these master's and doctoral alumni are listed here. To learn more, download the entire Gallup Study at ncu.edu/gallup or phone 866-776-0331. Northcentral University is regionally accredited by WSCUC (WASC Senior College and University Commission), 985 Atlantic Avenue, Suite 100, Alameda, CA 94501, 510.748.9001, wscuc.org.
