Bettina Shapira, PhD | Chair, Department of Psychology Happy Spring! I hope you are enjoying nice spring weather! I want to open my spring updates by sharing my work and experience with former Argosy students. I am sure you aware of what happened at Argosy. Currently NCU is welcoming former Argosy students to complete their degrees with us. These students are applying for degrees at all degree levels. Many of the former Argosy students who are contacting us were very close to degree completion at Argosy. For example, we have many former Argosy students who were in the dissertation phase, or very close to it, when the university closed. I am meeting with many students who are in this situation and who are now transferring into NCU's PhD PSY program with a specialization general psychology. As you probably can imagine, these students are devastated and many are in shock. I am not sure if everyone is aware that NCU offers, when appropriate, to transfer all or most Argosy courses into NCU degrees, which means that many former Argosy students start with us in the dissertation sequence. When I share this news with these students, I see relief and hope in so many faces. It is wonderful to be a part of this moment. I have to say I am very proud to work for an institution that gives students who are in a very difficult situation hope and a way to move forward! Please join me in welcoming former Argosy students! We are currently hiring a full time professor, who will mainly teach in our industrial/ organizational psychology programs and will serve as a dissertation chair. In addition, we are hiring three adjunct professors. Please stay tuned. In April, the Northcentral University Psychological Association's [NCUPA] inaugural newsletter will be published. Dr. Pitchford and Dr. Wright where instrumental in creating the newsletter. The newsletter will give students a platform to publish their ideas under the guidance of Dr. Pitchford and Dr. Wright. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Dr. Pitchford and Dr. Wright for their great and important work. This month five new Bachelor FastForward programs will go live. These programs are mapped to our five Master of Science programs. This means that if a student is in a Bachelor FastForward program, they will take three master's level courses that later can be transferred into the MS programs. In addition, we are revising our PhD specialization in industrial/organizational psychology to comply with the Society of Industrial/ Organizational Psychology's [SIOP] educational guidelines and we will add an internship course. We are planning to offer the revised PhD specialization in I/O Psychology to students this summer. In conclusion and most importantly, I want to thank you for your great work with your students. Please know that all of your work is keenly noticed and greatly appreciated. My best, Bettina Shapira, PhD
