15 Bettina Shapira, PhD | Chair, Department of Psychology Greetings. I hope you are enjoying the summer! I am very happy that this year we had much more time to spend together as a school and department. This is what we were asking for in the past years and I am very excited that it had happened this year. With your support, as well as with the support of our PAC members, we had informative sessions as well as team building events and fun activities. I want to welcome Dr. Antoinette Kohlman as a full-time professor to the Department of Psychology. Dr. Antoinette Kohlman holds a PhD in Organizational Psychology from Alliant International University. Dr. Kohlman was previously an adjunct faculty member in the School of Business. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Antoinette Kohlman! During the past month we have revised our PhD specialization in industrial/organizational psychology to comply with the Society of Industrial/Organizational psychology's [SIOP] educational guidelines and added an internship course. The revised specialization will be live in July. We will welcome new students into the revised specialization and will also make this specialization available for students who are about half way through their current program. This will give most of the NCU PhD Industrial/Organizational students the opportunity to choose an applied experience by enrolling in an internship course. I am very excited about this. In addition, we are currently revising the Post-Master's Certificate in Industrial/Organizational Psychology to mirror the revised specialization course sequence of the PhD specialization in industrial/organizational psychology. We are also working on creating a new PhD specialization in counseling psychology. This specialization is designed for mental health professionals who are master-level licensed clinicians [e.g., LPC, MFT, MSW licensure], who seek to improve their theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, while being able to prepare for a career as a psychology instructor, professor or researcher. In addition, the program is designed to provide for the meaningful integration of theory, practical application and research. It is my hope that the program will go live this Fall. As you can see, there are many exciting things happening in SBSS as well as in the Psychology Department. In conclusion, and most importantly, I want to thank everyone for the support and engagement you provide for our students. Because of you, this is a great Department and a great place for our students to learn and evolve.
