17 4. One of our faculty has welcomed a new little one into her family since the last newsletter and we celebrate with her. Annabelle gave birth to little Clara Oliver Goodwin. There is a lot of happiness in the Goodwin family after her safe arrival! 5. Mark's efforts lead to a successful step one in the accreditation process. We have now been invited to submit our self-study by April of next year. We will collaborate to move through preparations of the self-study and for the site visit. It is an exciting time as we take a close look at our PhD-MFT program! 6. We anticipate with enthusiasm the upcoming Symposium. It is always such a pleasure to interact with one another in a concentrated time and in the same physical space. There will also be the joy of celebrating with our students who will participate in graduation events. It is the culminating event for them and a wonderful celebration of why we do what we do. 7. We have reached and exceeded another milestone in the MFT programs. We now have over 1,700 students in the Department of Marriage and Family Sciences. We have grown dramatically over the last 7 years (from roughly 180 total MFT students in 2012 to 1,743 DMFS students as of July 1, 2019). 8. The CSWE had a few questions requiring additional detail in our quest for Candidacy status. Their decision will be made by October, 2019. Thanks to Deb, Sally and Dorinda for their work on creating all of the content required by the CSWE. Particular thanks to James for sharing his considerable expertise in accreditation to guide and support this process. There are some exciting things coming for the Social Work program as we receive Candidacy status. Thanks again to all of you for the amazing work you do to support student success. You are wonderful colleagues who are making a difference in our profession, in the lives of students and those they serveā€¦ in the world!
