7 Kirsten Gobeski, PhD Dr. Kirsten Gobeski is currently Manager of People Science and Optimization for Macy's, Inc. In this role, she serves as the architect for measurement and assessment of all talent across the enterprise, from hourly colleagues to senior level vice presidents. Her work ensures strategic alignment and scientific validity of talent evaluation practices across the colleague life cycle, from talent acquisition to voluntary and involuntary exit. Her vision for assessment frequently involves custom assessment development and validation as well as partnering with assessment vendors to create custom solutions. She has over ten years of post-doctoral professional experience in talent strategy, research, and consulting. Her most recent was three years of progressive experience with the Macy's, enterprise Talent Center of Excellence as an internal consultant across all multi-million dollar businesses comprising the Macy's enterprise. This included, but was not limited to, technology, merchandising, credit and customer services, logistics, private brands, Backstage off-price, foods, HR, finance and internal audit, and corporate functions for Macy's and Bloomingdale's. Prior to joining Macy's, Dr. Gobeski was a member of the four-person company leadership team for IPAT (Institute for Personality and Ability Testing, Inc). IPAT developed and distributed psychological assessments of personality, behavior, and integrity to help guide more informed personnel decisions. She was also the training program director, in charge of all aspects of the external training programs. Dr. Gobeski also led the assessment Research and Development program for the Americas and accomplished a new global norming for the company's assessments. Dr. Gobeski presents regularly at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Society of Consulting Psychology, and the International Conference on Work, Stress, and Health. Her presentation topics include assessment center design and use of technology, organizational politics, social support and workplace relationships, and retirees' bridge employment (drivers of continued/renewed employment post-retirement). She presents at retail industry conferences as a thought leader for empowering people leaders and methods to strengthen the health of the talent pipeline and succession plan in the ever-evolving retail industry landscape. She co-wrote the Association of Test Publishers Industrial/Organizational Psychology Division's public response to the EEOC, regarding federal employer compliance with Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. She has also served on the Professional Visibility Committee for the Society of Consulting Psychology. Her research has been published in the Journal of Organizational Behavior and in other professional research outlets. Dr. Gobeski obtained her PhD in Industrial Organizational Psychology, with a specialization in occupational health psychology, from Central Michigan University in 2009. In her free time, Dr. Gobeski serves on the board of the Indianapolis International Film Festival and sings with the Young Professionals Choral Collective. She performed a new composer's world premiere-commissioned work at Carnegie Hall in May 2019 on how we see each other.
