8 Melanie Duncan, PhD Dr. Melanie Duncan received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Houston in 2000 and is a College of Charleston alumnus. Prior to earning her PhD, she taught and researched child and adolescent development, focusing on family transitions and attachment. Most of her training and employment has been in community-based settings serving disadvantaged and high-risk children and their families. Dr. Duncan has been working for MST Services for the almost 20 years. MST Services is the sole organization responsible for disseminating Multisystemic Therapy (MST) with clinical fidelity. MST is an evidence-based and intensive family- and community-based treatment program that addresses all environmental factors that impact high risk youth: homes and families, schools and teachers, neighborhoods and friends. MST features the largest body of evidence, by far, of successful interventions for high-risk youth. She currently devotes her work hours to new MST program development and training for MST Services. She enjoys working with new agencies who want to learn about how to provide MST in their own communities, with adherence and traveling to locations to assist community stakeholders in getting their MST programs up and running. She currently lives in Charleston, SC and spends her free time reading, cooking, and entertaining with her husband and two elementary-school daughters. Mike Kemp, PhD Dr. Michael Kemp earned his Masters and Doctorate degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Central Michigan University. He is currently a research manager with Deloitte Consulting's Human Capital group where he leads a team of senior research analysts within the Bersin team. Bersin is a research group focused on driving strategic thought leadership on human capital and best practices. Prior to joining Deloitte, Mike started his career as an intern with Development Dimensions International (DDI), a global leadership consulting firm focused on helping organizations hire, promote, and develop exceptional leaders – from first-time managers to C-suite executives. During over a decade at DDI, Mike held roles designing tests and assessments, training materials, and strategic hiring and development programs for large, multi-national corporations; managing workforce and people analytics studies; and conducting strategic market research. Mike's research interests lie in the topics of leadership, people analytics, the employee experience, and the future of work. His passion lies in using data to provide actionable business intelligence and insights that improve both business performance and the quality of life for employees. Based in Pittsburgh, with his wife and two girls, Mike enjoys many outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, camping, and snowboarding.
