We hosted the WASC Substantive Change Site Visit Team at our San Diego location on July 10th. Overall, we feel the visit went well. I know our visitors left with confidence that NCU and NEP successfully implemented a very complex plan. I was also reminded that, though we are two organizations now, NCU and NEP still function as a great collective in the service of our students, faculty, and staff. I want to thank everyone who was involved in drafting the report and those who traveled to San Diego to be present for the visit. With our re-affirmation of an accreditation visit rapidly approaching, this proved what I already know; we are prepared and have an excellent story to share about our progress since 2015. We recently announced the new Senior Grants Coordinator, Dr. Rebecca Collins. Dr. Collins signifies the commencement of the NCU Grants Office and we look forward to seeing her develop the mission, structure, and processes for the university. The development of this office for NCU provides great meaning and purpose to our mission and vision. As we unwind from the excitement from our Faculty Symposium and Commencement events and round the corner into the second half of the year, I ask for your continued dedication and focus to serving our students. THIS is what's happening... What's New at NCU Laurie Wellner, Vice President of Academic Affairs We have wrapped up another year of commencement ceremonies, with an impressive number of graduates who passed through our virtual doors – ready to step into the world of work where they have opportunities to meaningfully apply their degrees. It is an exhilarating time, where we share these accomplishments with family, friends, and the greater university community. It has always been my honor to witness these celebratory moments of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. Simultaneously, the Office of Academic Affairs recently held a webinar entitled, "The Academic Affairs Road Show." The purpose of this webinar was to provide an overview of the key operational contributors and the work that is done within AA to this end. We are focused on student success and staff support while providing leadership and cooperative assistance to our five schools. The professionals in our Office of Academic Affairs work behind the scenes to support students, faculty, and staff across the university, and their work is impressive. These teams include: • Office of the Registrar • Academic Success Center • Faculty Scheduling • Center for Teaching and Learning • Library These teams work with faculty, staff, and students on a daily basis to help move students closer to their goal of graduation and beyond. Our commencement speaker, Ilyasah Shabazz, referenced the following quote by her father, which symbolizes our work in the Office of Academic Affairs to help achieve success: News from the Provost John LaNear, PhD, JD, Provost and Chief Academic Officer "Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today." — Malcolm X
