2019 Faculty Assembly Follow Up
The annual NCU Faculty Assembly took place during
the Faculty Symposium in July 2019 in Arizona. The
Senate provided the faculty with this prompt for
discussion: "Working at NCU is great,
but it would be
better if..." Faculty responded in writing on notecards
and in group discussion. The main
themes were:
• Faculty workload and evaluation - student load,
expectations for responsiveness
• Benefits/Pay/PTO - paid and sick time, health
insurance, pay
• Research time/support for faculty - more time and
support for research
• Diversity - increase diversity, particularly in
leadership
• Technology - update/improve hardware,
NCUOne
• Collaboration/Networking - increasing faculty-to-
faculty connection, support for new hires
• Curriculum/Teaching - improving curriculum
process, connecting faculty who teach same
courses

Faculty Senate Input...Working on
Your Behalf
Looking back at 2019, there were two "premium
holidays" where the University covered employees'
premiums. Looking forward into 2020, during the
winter holidays next year, the University will take a
full week off. Additionally, a dedicated space for
adjunct faculty is currently under construction in
The Commons!
