MFT Narrative Practices Community is Rocking!
In September 2019, NCU established a Narrative Practices
Community in the Commons! This community meets one
Saturday morning a month (usually the first Saturday) from
9-10 a.m. CST and is facilitated by Dr. Beth Patrick and Dr.
Chuck West. When we are not meeting, we are engaged in
the Commons group through practice-based questions,
articles, videos, and so forth.
This is a collaborative community of curious, non-judgmental
therapists engaged in enriching conversations about various
narrative practices. We believe that at the heart of these
practices is respect, agency, and relational identity. As such,
we believe that clients are in relationship to their problems,
they possess the abilities to address these problems, and we
believe in the importance of collaborative inquiry to elicit
these abilities in service of the creation of preferred
narratives. We are intentional in creating a process that
continues our learning and application of the narrative
practice ideas to clinical work.
Our group is open to all NCU MFT students and alumni.
If you have (or had) NCU supervisees who are interested
in Narrative Practices, we encourage you to let them know
about this group. All they have to do is send an email
expressing interest and we will send an invitation to join
the Community.
Let us know if you
have any questions!
