for working through assignments beyond what is already stated in the
classroom and connect content to professional, academic, or personal
relevance for students.
The key, I have found, to crafting effective announcements that support
student success, is meeting all instructional requirements. I post
announcements in a timely fashion to show that I am present in the
classroom on a consistent basis. I use a tone that conveys my passion for
the subject matter and encourages student engagement. I clearly explain
the relevance of the content shared. I find that only by meeting all of these
requirements, that my announcements effectively lead to student success.
The announcement area of the classroom is an important instructional tool.
It is a useful method to deliver important information, keep the students on
track, and provide motivating, relevant checkpoints for the students in the
course.

When I was asked to provide a teaching tip, I was initially at a loss.
Then I considered a recent change I'd made in how I approached my
first conversation with students. There was a resounding phrase that came
to mind, inviting paradigm shift. In initial meetings with students, I invite
students to consider a change in how they think about themselves and their
work in SSBS, moving from student to colleague and efficacious therapist.
